DECK OF CARDS!!! A personal favorite of mine. It’s usually the luck of the draw, due to my lack of shuffling skills, that the high repetition sets are always back to back, making for an incredibly difficult full-body workout. The weapons of choice last night were:
Hearts = Pushups
Diamonds = Knee Tucks
Clubs = DB Swing (x2)
Spades = Plyo Lunge (x2)
Joker = 20 full situps
Kings were 13 reps, Queens 12, and Jacks 11.
I made an observance last night that is beginning to form a pattern. I really need to get some audio footage of a session as proof to show how much more the men appear to be suffering than the women, verbally. Granted, they are typically doing a different workout. But, last night everybody was on the same page. Maybe guys are just more vocal about their muscles burning and being short on breath than women? Maybe they know that it secretly makes me smile to watch clients push through thresholds and they’re just trying to make my day? This phenomenon really stands out in the core work that we do at the end of every session. The women focus and methodically crank out their ab work while the men squirm about on the floor trying to maintain proper form and achieve a decent percentage of the reps that the women get. I know that they’re all cooked at the end though, as everybody laid on the floor in exhaustion. I actually couldn’t tell if they were all too tired to move or just hungry for another set. Fascinating…
