At Primitive Athletic Training there are no shortcuts. This program is not a gimmick for quick weight loss, six-pack abs, or gaining size. Our training philosophy is simple: 99% yields no results. We believe that the only proven way to reach your goals is though the utilization of: patience, consistency, mental grit, and 100% physical effort.
Functional body weight training, odd object lifts (dozer tires, sledges, sandbags, etc), high intensity interval training, and running are our primary concentrations for General Physical Preparedness (GPP). These methods are broad enough to cover a wide variety of needs (see below). However, each client will be trained to reach their specific goals while concurrently utilizing the methods mentioned above for improving overall fitness. If you are used to a DVD workout, commercial gym, or other umbrella HIIT programs, this training will initially shock you. You will quickly discover in your first session that the hour-long workouts you are accustomed to were a complete waste of your valuable time.
During a session, you can expect to get dirty, engage muscles you didn’t know you possessed, feel muscles you thought to be well-conditioned tremble, and even nausea. Afterwards, you can expect a post-workout “high” as you realize that you pushed your body further than you previously imagined possible. And, sooner or later, the summit of a mental mountain is reached and you begin to crave what you once feared. Once this transformation of the mind takes place, an extremely intense workout becomes exciting and enjoyable. From this point on, results and goals are only the byproduct from doing what you love.
